Research Interests

Dr. Liu’s research interests include discovery of human CTL epitopes to develop therapeutic vaccine for cervical cancer. In the past 5 years, his laboratory created HLA- transgenic mice model and established a MHC class I tetramer platform to identify novel CTL epitopes. These technologies could be applied to clinical immune monitoring and vaccine development. Currently, his studies focus on the two major directions. The first one is to study the innate receptor TLR and NLR ligands as adjuvant for CTL epitope-based vaccines to treat cancer and the adjuvant effect on the modulation of immune responses will be studied. The second parts, he is interested in antigen presentation and investigating the cross-presentation mechanisms of lipoimmunogens. His studies not only develop new formulations for therapeutic vaccines, his studies also try to understand the basic immune mechanisms for rational design of therapeutic vaccines.
