Honors & Awards

2003 Best poster award. 4th International Symposium on Antimicrobial Agents and Resistance (ISAAR). Korea

Expertise

My research focuses on surveillance of antimicrobial resistance and molecular studies of resistant bacteria, which include methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, vancomycin-resistant enterococci, and fluoroquinolone-resistant bacteria. Phenotypic and genotypic studies of resistant bacteria are conducted through the Taiwan Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance (TSAR) and Surveillance of Zoonotic Pathogens projects. Data from these projects help to shape antimicrobial usage policies as well as increase awareness of antimicrobial resistance problems in the medical community in Taiwan. These in turn help promote appropriate and judicious antimicrobial use, and enforce infection control measures to contain resistance development and spread
